Jan 2012 Fun Day Report

By sean phillips

Our first event for 2012 provided some great racing and lots fun in preparation for what will be a great year at the TKC.

Our hard working committee members are called on to run this event each year and as usual they were all at the track ready to go so our members can have fun racing around our fantastic track. The call of duty this year also took on more than just running the event as the day before an unseasonal downpour caused havoc with rocks and debris strewn all over the circuit, pit bays buried under rubble and the canteen area looking like something from a war zone. Our fantastic caretaker Linda Atkinson had already swept the entire canteen area before anyone had even got to the track and following an urgent call out from Greg Adams the entire committee was at the track first thing and worked all morning to repair the damage caused by the storm.

By the time racing got underway the place was back to looking a million dollars.
Our club is very lucky to have such a great committee behind it and I know that every TKC member appreciates all the work they do so we can enjoy our great sport, thanks guys.

The day consisted of 3 heats and with no points on offer makes it a great day to tune everything up in preparation for the 2012 season without the stress of competing at a full race event. It was great to see some brand new members joining us for the first time, a big welcome to you guys and we hope to see you all racing with us again during the year.

We have a great calendar of events at both our tracks this year and from the momentum we saw building at our club days last year (where the Nov club day had a record 130 + entries) the 2012 season looks to be a real cracker.

Race safe Sean
